"And That's a Wrap!" End of the 2024-25 CCS Athletic Season
We made it to the finish line! It is hard to believe that a few months ago, we just began our athletic season here at CCS with cross country and volleyball and wrapped things up with track and field. How fitting it is that Cornerstone finished this season with strength and determination. I am so proud of each athlete that participated throughout this school year and can't wait for what's in store in the 2025-26 athletic season at CCS.
Here are a few highlights through out these past months:
- Our senior girls volleyball team proudly hung their bronze medalist banner in the gym. It was celebrated with their coach, Mr. Behrns.
- A few of our CCS girls played with Briercrest this year and were crowned varsity champions. Those that represented CCS were Jorja, Kiana, Jenna, & Neveah. Great job, girls!
- Our A girls basketball team made history by competing at the elementary city finals for the first time lead by Mr. Block and aided by Mr. Boisclair. The girls made us proud by grabbing silver. Great season, girls and Mr. Block & Mr. Boisclair!
- Our elementary badminton singles and doubles represented us well at the cities with Amara & Sadie capturing gold against Nixon & Violet finishing silver. Congrats to Parker and Daniel for getting bronze in the boys doubles and Olivia W. for her bronze finish. A shout out to Mr. Gutek for coaching these great athletes!
- Our senior badminton team won the city title and great job to Drew & Tanner and Kiana for advancing to regionals and provincials. Awesome job by all including their coaches.
- Our HS track and field team had a tremendous season with Ademide defending her gold medals at provincials for shot put and discus. She won the senior girls shot put by nearly a metre and half over her nearest competitor with a 12.22 metre effort. It was more of the same in the discus, where Ademide won gold with a 36.97m throw, more than four metres better than second place. (via MJ Today)
- Last but not least our elementary track team competed a few athletes beat city records and school records. Great job, CCS!
And that's a wrap, folks! Great athletic year and can't wait for next season. Rest up and have a great and safe summer. Let's go, CCS!
